Da1000RRStuna 04-12-2004, 01:33 AM if i was you i wouldnt use anything but a factory oil filter..

Got any data to back that up? I'd really be interested to hear what facts you have that support this.
"The factory knows best" doesnt count, either. Cause.. I've seen factory/design engineers fvck shit up worse than anyone. . .
Anonymous 04-12-2004, 10:24 AM On my 954 I blew out gaskets on three difernt mfg oil filters. The only one that worked coorectly is OEM.
buy your Zenon kit off of ebay... Hella kits were going for 325 to 350....
smokinjoes 04-12-2004, 11:00 AM Plus cleaning them is one more hassle to add to an oil change. With stock just screw on and go.
Da1000RRStuna 04-12-2004, 01:11 PM if your bike blows up and you bring it in for warrany there going to laugh at you and not fix your bike..and why would you want that filter anyway? you cant see it and it does nothing performance wise..
theJrod 04-14-2004, 01:17 PM Stainless steel oil filter
I don't see the point - stock works for me.
Royal Purple fully synthetic oil, with molybdenum additive (clutch be damned)
I'll stick w/ Motul 300V full synth - no moly, clutch be living a long life.
Integrated Taillight
Maybe - it's very cool, but I might have to see it in person.
Blue blacklighting for instrument cluster
Gay, sorry.
HID headlights
I might upgrade to some PIAA Ultra Whites, but that's about it. You're still limited by having to use the stock reflectors, so adding even the brightest bulbs or HID system won't change the actual light dispersion.
LED front Flushmounts
Already have a couple pairs of Greggs Customs on the way, going to be doing a custom mounting myself.
And, I'm also thinking about BlackStoneTek Carbon fiber wheels.
Eh - Stock wheels are already pretty light - I'll save my weight with a Ti exhaust system.
Other things I've done so far:
Removed reflectors, removed stock mudflap.
PC3 - USB already installed.

Unless you're racing for $$$$, I would go without the wheels. That bike in stock form is race ready.
Da1000RRStuna 04-14-2004, 03:18 PM picture them rims after hitting a good size bump..lots a $ down the drain.
Fastmaster 04-14-2004, 08:23 PM there is a website where a guy cuts open a bunch of filters and rates their quality. Somebody may have the link. He rated the Honda oem filters as top notch. I cut mine open and did find they are good shit. I have to cut filters at work to find metal or media ruptures. I know good filters and bad filters. Wix is good, Fram eats ass of a menstruating skunk...
Da1000RRStuna 04-14-2004, 11:08 PM yes..i seen that link..very good info..

agreed. carbon fiber wheels at like 3k+ each? i wouldnt touch that unless it was on a race bike and i was intending on serious competition. If you really want different wheels, get some marvics or something cheaper in aluminum.
Black1000RR 04-26-2004, 07:43 PM only use factory oil filter all other filters will void waranty because most of the gaskets will leak and they have several other diffs. such as plastic bypass valves in factorty and paper in most aftermarkets and aftermarkets restrict oil flow with less pleats WTF? for the extra couple of bucks get the factory and a stainless cover for it! this is all true but of course in my opinion.
By-Tor 04-26-2004, 09:00 PM Stainless oil filter cover? What has this world come to :!: Thats like adding graffics to the under side of your seat :?

Not to mention it won't aid in heat dissipation.
