Ok experts....I am getting the run around from my dealer. I bought my bike new (2002 954) with the recall bearings replaced. At least that is what they say. From day one my handlebar lock would not engage. I took the bike in three times and they even went as far as replacing the ignition. Then finally the service manager said "Oh yea, I remember now. Once the bearings are replaced the handlebar won't lock anymore." I think they were just tired of me.
Is this normal or were these likely installed incorrectly? If this is not correct, then is there anyone that can point me to some place I can direct the dealer to so I can get this fixed. I couldn't find anything on Honda's website to help clear this up.

I believe it has to do with a washer. I can't remember exactly what the fix was though.

I had the same problem win I got my 954, dealer tried to fix it 2 times, they couldnt, I didnt have any ideas either, I decided to get a new triple clamp, noticed it didnt help with the lock, then I kept knocking the clamp down farther and farther, the lock finally worked, maybe if you loosen up all the bolts and take a rubber hammer see if you can move the triple clamp down. Hope this helps, weeeee

it has to do with the top nut,not the one on top of the triple tree the first one right under it..if its not in the set in the right spot the pin/lock wont line up right..pain in the ass..mine only locked with the bars turned to the right..I was sick of playing with it and left..

I just installed my stock triple clamp and the lock works, loosen all 3 nuts, rubber hammer to tap the clamp down until the key lock works, tighten up the fork bolts first, then the steering nut, do this while its locked. weeeeee
