I was about to get the SMX, but was waiting to see the new line

I think I like the new one better,
the new one looks like they cut a couple of corners, but in areas that dont really matter
like the sleeve ends, which will always be covered w/ gloves...
what do youse think?
I cant find it for sale here yet.
GNT if you click the pic...
resuscit8u 10-29-2005, 02:00 PM As far as requiring full circ zippers, it is up to the trackday org and or track owner. I have heard of some not requiring it, But I would not get on the track in anything less.
Flightmedic954 10-29-2005, 02:20 PM I am just leary of buying a 1or2pc suit, I would need to have it custom made$$$
I finally had a custom flightsuit made, its so much nicer
ok I just found a pic of the zipper, none of the descriptions gave a good description

By-Tor 10-29-2005, 05:14 PM I have the A*'s 2 piece TZ-1 suit and it fits great. I wear the jacket all the time.
Nicky310 10-29-2005, 11:48 PM There are a few sport jackets on the Alpinestars website that don't list a connection zipper in their description. The MX-1 jacket does have the zipper.
As shown in the picture above, the zippers on the jackets and pants that aren't part of 2-piece suits (an MX-1 jacket & 'track pants') go about 80% of the way around the waist. The connection zipper on a 2-piece suit goes about 95% of the way around your waist. So for example, if you find a used jacket from a 2-piece suit on eBay, it will NOT connect to a pair of A* track pants.
The zipper on the 2-piece has only a couple inch gap (goes almost all the way to each side of the fly)

The zipper on the track pants has about a 6 inch gap

By-Tor 10-30-2005, 12:09 AM Yeah, you're better off buying a 2 piece than pieceing together a jacket and pants. My A*'s 2 piece zipper goes 90% around the waist. Only spot it doesnt cover is where the fly snaps closed.

The A* jackets have a removable thermal/quilted vest (except SM-X AIR-FLO), 2 outside pockets, & 3 inside pockets. The 2-piece suit jackets do not have a removable liner or outside pockets. I can't remember if I had one chest pocket or not on old my TZ-1 2-pc; A* doesn't list any pockets in their 2-pc descriptions. With the 954RR, I'd put my cell phone, wallet, etc. in the trunk or magnetic tank bag. Since the 1000RR won't use my magnetic tank bag and has no trunk space, I need pockets. Since Wisconsin riding weather varies so much, I prefer to have the removable liner. That's why I currently have an A* jacket & track pants for the street. I have a 1-piece suit for the track.
By-Tor 10-30-2005, 02:05 PM Good points Nicky. The TZ-1 2 piece suit only has one inside chest pocket which is where I keep my $ clip and reg papers. My cell, maps, and camera fit in the trunk. Sure miss the trunk on the 954.
Flightmedic954 10-30-2005, 04:47 PM you guys said a lot of good stuff, thanks
ideally having a 1-piece for the track & jacket & pants for the street would be the way to go
but I didnt even make 1 track day this year
my schedule had me out of state on every one
I will make it happen next year
but I will still be lucky to hit 2 weekends...
both of those jackets up there have a removable liner
the SMX has more perforations & a full removable liner
I think the MX-1 only has a removable vest
I cant decide which I like better, but either choice is good, Im just nit-pickin the little things
Flightmedic954 11-03-2005, 12:23 AM I guess I will go w/ the SMX.
I just got it for $325 shipped
E-gay baby :!: :!:
this is the buyers market for motorcycle shit
christmas isnt here, season dying, no one looking forward to spring...

Nicky310 11-10-2005, 01:30 PM heres one going for cheep (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8012428623&fromMakeTrack=true)

Shhhh.... I was watching that.
A very good price, probably a size too big for me, though
don't forget to take into account this eBayer's flat $35 for shipping -- a little steep, IMO, but if you factor it in to how much you want to spend, then who cares.
Flightmedic954 11-10-2005, 01:40 PM yea I hate it when someone blows something I am looking @
but now I am going to be pissed if it goes for less than what I just paid
