My front left fork seal is leaking. The dealer says its from doing wheelies and they won't fix it. I have the 5 year warranty on my bike. Is there anything I can do? Anyone have the same problem?

Clean your forks before you take the bike to the next shop. If you have been comming down hard from wheelies they will see that the fork has been bottomed out. maybe clean the forks and then ride down a dusty road to deposit some new grime on the forks. Just remember not to do any wheelies on your way to the shop and the compression marks on the Forks will look like you just use the bike for putting around. Good Luck.

Honda will not replace for seals on anything with over 3k miles or over one year old reguardless of the HESP. The HESP doesnt even cover all the same stuff as the origianl waranty. Buy the 43mm slide hammer and do it yourself, its easy.... Oh only use OEM seals and replace the dust covers.....

I called another dealer today and made the appointment. Bad news is that they couldn't get it in till the 3rd of May. Good news is they did not even question me. They said it will be covered under warranty with no problem. So that will save me a few hundred bucks in labor alone. I'll let ya all know how it turns out. Thanks for the input guys.

The dealer has no say and if you already had it in for service the vin number will pull up the decline on your previous attempt and then you might get charged for putting the bike in the shop.....

Are you in your extended or orriginal service plan?

They never ran the VIN on the previous attempt to get it fixed. They just looked at it and said it was from abuse and they were not going to fix it. I called the other dealer, told them the problem of the front left fork seal leaking. They asked if It was under warrranty and I said I had the extended warranty on it. Then they wanted the VIN to verify the warranty and it all checked out and they said it would be covered. Hopefully it all works out. Just sucks its not for another week and a half.

I think you are going to find I am right on this but I certainly hope I am wrong. If Honda does pay I want you to let me know because I am going to use your case to get reimbursed for my fork seals. Another thing to keep in mind is that the dealer has not submited your claim yet they just ran the vin to verify waranty. I have friends in the service dept at a dealer I go to and they lye for me and they tried for a week to get an approval and were denied three times plus I called and bitched and was denied again. They said it 100% is not covered by the extended plan and for the most part its not covered during the first year. I wish you luck and please report back. I would also call the dealer and see if you can drop it off earlier than 5-3 so they can at least get approval for the work prior to that date.
