I have 2700 miles on a 03 954rr, and yesterday was into the throttle hard in first gear at about 9000RPM felt a very strong vibration from the engine. I just changed the oil maybe a week ago so everything is fine there. It's the first time it's done it. What gives?? Is the engine still too new? I don't think so but have run out of ideas.

No, but I didn't take it in for the 300 mile tune up honda reccomends in the book. I was told it was a rip off. Maybe that has something to do with it. It felt more like a vibration from within the engine, not the tranny. I'll see if it does it again.

I've had a couple bolts loosen on my 954. I agree with Wheelie, check for loose bolts every oil change.

If you are getting that noise at 9krpm then you are hitting a harmonic vibration. I was getting something simalar at 4k and it ended uo being a loose duct peice in the front and that was it. If it doesnt sound like metal you are probobly fine.

yo my mirror vibrated off, one of the bolts for the left footpeg, one of the windshield bolts, the barends, one of teh fairing bolts, and my stock turn sigs all vibrated apart, i mean, i guess internally its fine, but im not the only person thats had bolts rattle loose it seems, ran into a nigga on a 954 yesterday, said hes had similar shit happen, is this a common thing with these liter bikes in general or is this a 954 thing?

i don't think it's strictly a 954 thing. bikes go through alot on the road...i mean a LOT of vibration. not only from the engine, but from all the lil bumps and holes that you might not really pay attention. shit can rattle loose real quick. had alot of my buds lose bolts and stuff on many different kinds of bikes.

loc-tite will cure 99.999% of that problem :D

they put some loctite on there, but it ain't much.....cheap bastards
