My boy hit 180mhp on the 1000rr tonight with about a thousand miles on it and he said it kept pullin.Had to let off thou cause we ran out of room.Next time he is going to run it with this guy on his 02 gixxer and this other guy on his 01 R1.The CBR is all stock the other two bikes are slightly modified. Should be a little interresting.

Put a GPS on it to see how accurate the speedo is....

yeah, GPS it, just to see.

Cause i've seen 186 indicated on my 54, but i have no idea how fast that actually is?

contrary to belief the margin of error in the GPS is most likely greater than on the bike because the agency that controls GPS accuracy only requires it to be within 5% of actual speed ( at 100MPH it must read within 5 MPH) your bike (provided you haven't changed sprockets, tire size ect) must be within 1% to pass DOT approval.

i gotta say B.S. not to you 1000RR but to the guy that told you that. that may be accurate up to certian speeds, like say 55 or 60 mph, but when you get on up there the speedo will be off somewhere in the range of 8% to 11%. if it's off so much at 30mph and a little more at 60mph, the faster you go, the more it'll be off. just my 2 cents :?

I know that my 954 runs 2mph high at 40mph which is 5% off and I am stock. Iverified the speed from a couple of those trailers the cops leave out to warn people about speeding.

those radar trailers that cops leave out are fun, though if you are going really fast, depending where they are sitting, you need some one behind you to read the speed...

I was just talking shit with my guy tonight about turbo'ing the klr...hahahaha
If I see 140 out of that bike with the gears that I have it'll blow! hahaha
and I've always wanted to see a pegged out speed checker...

I saw that the actual top speed of the 1000rr is 175 mph. not exactly slow. as far as seeing 180 and still pulling i doubt it was reading correctly. and when i hear people say they saw 180 on their 954 their really talking shit, its top speed is 168 mph. and as far as a stock bike going over 186 mph its impossible through an international law to bikes imported to america

What are you talking about? My 954 hits 240mph and keeps pulling :!: :imslow:

I said in my above post "Cause i've seen 186 indicated on my 54, but i have no idea how fast that actually is?" .... 186 INDICATED... i figured with the speedo error that might be 172-74? I never said my 954 actually went 186....

Pretty sad to see that the top speed is only 168, when most 600's out there can do 155-60... so i don't really believe that.

I waz dissapointed with my 954 when I first got it 'cause it didn't do a 90mph roll on and 200mph actual top speed...... :P

My 954 goes the speed limit. Sometimes. Other times it goes slower. But I don't know for sure because it could have actually been the indicated speed that I thought I saw when it was only indicating the actual speed that I thought I saw. I'm not sure. I do know this. The telephone poles along the side of the road seemed to be coming by kinda fast.
:?

Truck
04-30-2004, 06:02 PM
Well telephone poles in utah are spaced farther appart, or is it closer than here, gee let me guess, hmmm, oh I think there closer. :D

olderRR.
05-01-2004, 12:49 AM
Would that be the indicated distance between poles and is that close to the actual distance? HAHAHA!!! Actually, everything in Utah is a little slower. except the sheep. They're faster. Probably because Utah sheep are so good lookin!.

BTW, the GPS units are way more accurate than the speedo. They're cool as hell. A friend I ride with has one. He will mark a position, we go for a 300 mile ride and when we get back, the GPS will show our position within a foot or two of where we started.
I'm sure the speed measurements are just as accurate.

the bike mags take out radar guns and test the bikes smart guys, the 1000 rr tops out between 175 and 180, all bikes are a little different

the 954 tops out between 172 and 178

in stock form

thats what all the mags say, so suck it, indicated dont mean shit

05-01-2004, 09:34 AM
Well anything 150 or faster is absolutly moving anyway. Lets face it most of the time when I ride if I hit places that I can hit 150 im doing good. Most of the places here dont let you get past about 70 anyway. :!:

actually we were just discussing the speed limiter that honda puts on all its bikes in this forum, sow i doubt anybody is doing 180 or so on their honda unless they swapped their stock computer boxes with a hrc one...

Matt, the 954 that went 168 may not be the fastest 954, it was the one they tested, some stockers may run 170+actual mph. Just like the new bikes tested, some report different speeds on the same brand. weeeee

Thanks for that comment Wheelie...

Yeah, i definately believe my bike wasn't made on a monday or friday!
