After five years your helmet has reached the end of it's life. The polystrene or whatever starts to break down. They won't let you rece even if your helmet is over 5 yrs. Friction954 04-21-2004, 08:56 PM Definately true. I got my girlfriend a new helmet to replace the old one i had and didn't use, cause i didn't feel comfy letting her use it (just in case). She wore it to the shop and i got her a new one, the guys there asked if i wanted it i said no... the guy tosses it rather lightly againts the concrete out back.... and IT SHATTERED.... :eek: that could have been her head!
