Is it a good idea to use this when storing the bike for a couple months? What does it do and does it affect the bike at all the first time you ride again? THX for any info.

It stabilizes the volitiles in the fuel and keeps it from breaking down seals. It is a very good idea to have it.

I've heard that gas stays 'good' only for about one month, then the gas starts breaking down & octane levels start to get too low. STA-BIL advertises itself as stabilizing the gas as well as removing the water so that after a long sit, your engine will run properly and your internals won't rust, varnish, gum, or corrode.

You'll notice that the exhaust smells like STA-BIL until you run it out & get a fresh tank, but there should be no other noticeable effects.

It made my superhawk run rough for two tank fulls. one tank to run it out another to flush it.

but I think the dealer put Way too much in.

I've used it a few times but have never had any problems when I didn't use it either.

yes, more is not better. add only what the bottle says. too much will foul the shit out of your plugs, and that's a bitch of a job.

Yes, you need it. Add it to any fuel cans that you store over the winter too. I just cleaned a snowblower carb for my neighbor that didn't add stabil last spring. What a pain...
