as a noob i couldnt say one way or another on new vs old... but this is a very nice style and layout of VB. Only thing i wish is if there were 1/2 as many forum categories (combine all the same flavor forums)

I look at that and think the same thing sometimes but then I got addicted to clicking on "quicklinks" and then "today's posts" to keep on what's new. a good thing about all the categories is it's a little better organized,
There is a cure for the clutter!
On the grey bar where it reads the forum category all the way to the right you will see a small arrow. Click that to minimize that forum and all tyhe others you want minimized and once it's set every time you log in it'll be the way you left it.
Then you can just click on the forum letters that are hotlinked to go into the forum and you are set.
that helps me out since I know what is in every forum.

yeah that can make it easier to "close out" what groups you would normally not read... however running a board (http://forums.turbobricks.com) of my own i tend to want to check in on each forum and see whats new.
I just see lots of forums that arent posted in regularly just because they're so specific... its a common thing really, lots of sub categories not enough posts per day. Its possible however for boards to grow into their forum list.. seen it happen a few times.
Something like this:
CBR Forums:
1000RR Talk
954/600RR Talk (combined 954 forum and 600 forum)
Tech & Tuning (moved tech&tuning to CBR category)
......-How-to Subforum (combined all the how-to's and made a sub forum)
And thats just the top 8 forums moved into essentally 3 forums in 1 category. Then you've got 13 "off-topic" forums... that could be made into open road (offtopic with a sub forum of NWS), media (photos and vids), motorsport (for riding technique and trackday stuff), and a "news" or "Bulletin board" or something like that for the mess hall, update thread, new members check in, etc.
Thats just me though, my personal preference is is a regular forum doesnt get sub divided until theres a roll over to page 2 of "new threads" per day. That keeps everyone together longer so people dont login, read the 2 forums that they always do and maybe miss something they would have wanted to read or could have helped someone with just because it wasnt in front of them.
Just a thought, all is well...sorry for thread-jacking, carry on.

no worries on thread jacking. it's a common practice here, lol, along with going o.t. mid sentence. :hehe:
excellent froum btw. I have a buddy that designed and built his own kits for his zx1100. he's actually a board member here too. rz350 . riding a bike with a turbo is uber fun.

I have two pages of new posts showing since last night. Plenty of traffic here IMHO.

lol no bricks being volvos... i couldnt imagine a turbo on a 1000RR... at least not w/o my will being written first.

yeah i guess if you use the "new posts since last visit" that makes it irrelevant. Course you will eventually have to switch to reading forums and be selective about which ones to keep up-to-date on when the forum gets big. e.g. 10-15 pages of new posts in 24 hours.

thatd be pretty sweet though seeing that much, then I would be able to read every single one like I do now.. at least not in my 8hr work shift like right now. :hehe:
