Im looking to put a steering damper on my 954 and looking for recomendations. I know Ohlins is good stuff, but I dont want to drop $500 on it. Does anyone use a Toby or Hyper-Pro ? Thanks

I also had a Toby. It seemed to do the job, at the time. I didn't ride as hard then as I do now, but there are a lot of undulating roads in my area and lofting the front wheel over a rise is quite easy. I had a scary moment once, which prompted me to get the damper; I didn't seem to have a problem after that.

just the last time I was home the bike tried to shake on me
my GPR did its job
I also hit some kinda small animal @ 140+
& the bike just pushed right through it
I have to think it helped

Pretty much any one will do the job. Just take your pic as long as you get one.
Ive got a scotts and like that its real easy to install and to adjust on the fly. Its just real important to get one on the 54. there real gittery.

I didn't realize how similar of cockpit I have as yours
brake lines, vortex, same preload adjustor's, gear indicator

just realized how ugly that brake reservoir is
I haven't heard any options for it
tons of stuff for the rear one, which is invisible compared to the front

anybody got anything?

yea about the damper just get something
I would get either the Scott's or ohlins if I had it to do over

From what i've learned, Wheelie is right and the Ohlins is the top of the line. I installed the Scott's cause I found a good deal on one and I don't race the bike. Easy to install and very easy to adjust. You can make adjustments while you are riding very quickly without taking your eye off the road which is nice.... I believe that the Scott's is actually made by Ohlins anyway.

i'm a big fan of scott's. that thing has saved my ass a hundred times on the street and on the track. and the great thing about scott's is that it doesn't restrict you in turning it back to center if needed which has been a huge help a few times.
