999R

It's a no brainer

Best Power delivery
Best Handling
Best Sound
Best Resale Value
Best Longetivity as in it won't be redesigned every 2 years
Improved Reliability with 2003 and up models
Best Warranty

The only thing wrong with the bike is the initial cost

Then I would rate the ZX-10R and the Gix1K a tie for 2nd
The R1 and the CBR1000RR a tie for 3rd

Ummm- right! Harley Davidson isn't redesigned every 2 years either, and maintains resale value. Hmmm, I see a similarity :D

To be honest I can not say which would be the best and why because I'd need to ride each of them to have a constructive opinion.

Now if it were which one would I want other than the 1krr it'd be the 10r
then the duc,

then the r1

and lastly the gix just because Wheelie rides one. :HEHEHE:

the R1's torque and power delivery sucks horse cock.

no offense, jester.

the earlier R1's, up until about 2003 i think, had great midrange. the 04's had a HP increase but the torque dropped and got moved way up in the powerband. peak torque is lower than the 1000RR and is 2,000rpm higher. the gix and RR have the best and most useable torque....and as a result the most linear power.

I have to say it would be the HONDA!!!!#1Due to the simple fact that I run a HONDA and to be truthful they have always made the best looking power producing machines in the time periods they were put out!!!!Not to put any other bike down but none of them put the power really where it's needed along withriding comfortability like HONDA does with the FIREBLADES the rest of the bikes are cutthroat at fast racing speeds !!!

1000RR hands down you can ask anyone that was at the gap for just a little bit of money and touch of knowhow you can make a 1KR that will eat small children for snacks.....Now if I could just learn to ride it

GSXR-1000

Lets face it you gotta respect the Gixxer and it's reputation as a runner

1000RR is the nicest CBR so far

The R1 is a frickin institution

The ZX-10-R is...well...ugly and comes in the same colors as skittles

Isnt Ducati Italian for "get your checkbook out"?

For pure smoothness, the cbr is where its at. For pure speed the kawasaki is it. For a nice combo of speed and handling the yamaha is pretty solid. For a good track bike go with either the suzuki or the ducati. In my opinion I love the cbr, but I would buy an R1 in the future. Even though I love Honda's. Honda needs to make a faster bike for me to come back to them. The 1000 is a good start, but still needs more power.

Why is that the r1 is torching the cbr?

C420sailor
05-09-2006, 01:40 PM
i'm not saying it's slower. i'm saying that its power delivery sucks. it has tons of HP up top. but the midrange...sucks. i like the older R1 mill better for street riding. the power is more useable.

the CBR has more midrange and better torque because it has a longer stroke. that is also why it has less horsepower. ask turbo what he loves most about the ducati motor. he'll tell you the midrange punch. it's the midrange that will get you out of the corner faster. the 'blade also puts the power to the ground better. no power wasted on unnecessary wheelies.

and the R1 torching the 06? i dont think so. if you consider a HP difference that you can count on one hand "torching".....

but to each his own. by the way, i exaggerated the R1's power delivery a bit...my little joke isnt nearly as funny if you used a bungee instead of chain ;-)

Put this same thread on ANY of the other boards and see what you get. I'd say for a Honda board, the answers have been pretty straight.

The ZX-10-R is...well...ugly and comes in the same colors as skittles

Ryan the CBR needs a little fine tuning, to start torching other litre class bikes like the gsx-r, ninja and even the r1. The bike has been running strong with the others, but it lacks the punch. I have noticed that with the 1000rr you have to get it up to the higher rpm range for it to really hit its stride. The r1 has more oomph at the lower rpm range. It does lack a little bit in the mid range, but it pulls strong pretty much from the low end to the top. I have ridden an r1 and it was faster than the cbr. I know cbr's I have owned three and a yamaha. Again this is just my opinion. The only bike that really lags the ducati, sorry turbo, but its true.

lol, i haven't taken offense at all. just having fun. it's a family guy quote :-)

i know the CBR has faults. she's a heavy bitch and she is a little down on HP. but with a stable of three hondas, as well as being a honda tech, it's easy to be a little biased ;-)

Streetfighter
05-11-2006, 11:34 AM
Alright its cool, not trying to be a bitch, I just wish Honda would pick it up a little bit. I feel you Ryan, I started with a yamaha, then I am now on my third Honda.

I just wish Honda would pick it up a little bit

I can understand that. WHY doesn't Honda put out a motor that dominates. It's not that they can't. For Chrise sake. They dominate the Motogp. I feel the same way.
But then I look at my Honda.
She is SO pretty.

WAYY prettier than Yamaha with all her sharp edges and designer jeans and 18 MILLION fuckin bolts and tabs and screws that hold her together..

SuziQ is close in looks--cause I used to race 'em MX and SuziQ's ROCK! (IMHO of course.)

Kawi is just a Kawi--BIG ASS Motor and.. well.. She's got a BIG ASS MOTOR.

And the Duc. The Ducatti is flat out sick!! At least Turbo's is. But unless you got the dough to sink, she's slow.

I'll take me 954RR. A little here and a little there and I've got a bike that's competitive with ALL OF YOU.

It's all what you feel the most comfortable on! That's what you'll ride the fastest.

I'm thinkin I'd really like the ferrari F1....

i like my R1, i always will. i've riden that bike balls out from day one, slamed it down, slid it down, flipped it through the air and upside down, and she still runs like a top.
if i were going to go out and get a new one today, it's hard to say what i'd get. they are all so close i'd say it's the rider that would make one faster than the other.

Well put Court Jester...."they are all so close i'd say it's the rider that would make one faster than the other."

Totally agree... I do love my 06 1KRR though. Pretty colors, lighter than it's predecesor and 3% more powerful and throws my 250lbs ass to the rear of the bike at half throttle.

Guys ive been kinda following this thread and I can tell you that only in a straight line does power matter. I bet i can take a track ready SV650 and run off and leave a lot of people out there in the twisties. Couple of weeks ago when i highsided at the gap i was literally running off and leaving my buddies that i generally ride with, one on a new R1 and another on a Aprillia factory (you know the one with all ohlins set up and oz rims). Anywho they never even kept my tail lights in sight most of the day and i can show you the pics where they had knee on the deck in every curve.
Pick the one you want, ride the one you pick, set up the susspension and enjoy the ride.
