my buddy has a line on one for 10,900 with zero miles, but it's a 2002 model. RSV Mille R with all the goodies. Is that a good price or is it dated??

Max,

Aprilias have very poor resale value. You can get that bike for around $7,500 if you haggle him.

Check www.apriliaforum.com and see for yourself in the classifieds.

My friend used to have an '02. I had a chance to ride it. It was a nice ride. It felt very tall though.

Yes and no.

Yes because it's a new bike and it's $4,000 less than the original MSRP.

No in the sense that it's still a 2002 and for about $3,000 more he can get a brand new '06 with the Ohlins front end.

It depends on how long he can hold out to get the other $3,000 for the '06. If he really can't afford it, then in my opinion, he's better off getting a used version of one of the newer generations for around $8,000.

Unless of course, he really loves the '02 version which in fact Haga campaigned in WSBK that year.

he was told that it had Ohlins front and back as well as the damper.

does that make the deal any sweeter??

If it has full Ohlins, then it's the RSV R model (which we now know as the Factory).

That's a great deal then. The dealer has lost a lot of money having it on the floor all these years and he just wants to get rid of it.

If it was my money, depending on my circumstances, I would get it if I didn't want a Japanese bike.
