At the end of last season my steering dampner started making a buzzing sound at speed. I could hold it while it was making the noise and it would stop. I'm sure that the plastic bushings are the cause. They've just loosened up under stress :headbang: I checked Ohlins website and can't find replacement parts. I've heard of others having this same problem but don't remember anybody having a solution. I thought about putting some teflon tape in there to hush it up. I really like the dampner but the buzzing has got to go! Any ideas/suggestions...

a lil trip to the Home Depot might help..plumbing section, plastic washers maybe a rubber O-ring might help..

not related directly to this post, but more or less...

I've noticed my Ohlins damper makes kind of a clicking sound whhile i turn the handlebars at a high tension setting, like there're some kind of air bubble or something in the fluid. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey General... I've noticed the clicking sound you described too. I mostly notice it when it is at or near it's maximum setting and I'm cranking on them pretty hard. I believe that when you change the direction of force (quickly) applied to the dampner it lifts the whole assembly up or down depending on which direction you turn the bars. When my bike is sitting you can lift the piston portion of the dampner up and down with about 1/4" of play in it. Mine may be worse because like I mentioned before I believe the plastic (teflon) bushings are worn out. I don't think it's anything to worry about but it is annoying.

ahh..well hopefully thats all it is, they all have some play in them cause of the way they are designed. Thanks for the tip :)

My scotts makes noise when moving but it is the oil inside and you can only hear it when the front of the bike is in the air in the shop......
