Well its been a while but its my turn again. I did a dumb thing yesterday by pluging a rear tire. We rode hard all day at knee dragging speed and had a blast.
then it was time to go home and just fifteen minutes before home i rounded a 90 degree right hander at about 30 and ,"BLAM" lowsided. The bike spun around and rear first into a curb and broke the rim which im trying to find one before the gap trip. Anywho strange that we were tearing it up only to have a low speed mishap like this. kinda scary when I think about in knowing the speeds we were running earlier. Im still not completely sure but I think I washed the front cause as i spun into the curve its like i hit the pavement without any resistance.
I may have washed the rear cause I put a plug in the rear tire yesterday morning after finding a nail in it. (Yea Yea I know) but strangly enough im pretty sure I washed the front cause the way it went down.
Ill ask all of your oppinions cause truthfully Im still trying to figure out if I wased the front or the rear although I still say its the front just by nature of how fast I went down.
Anywho if any feel the need to donate to a good cause:thumbsup: Ill send you my pay pal addy:hehe:

washed the front or the rear?

dude, if you can't recall instantly then give up on trying to figure it out. imo

to be honest it could have been one right after the other and REAL close together, which is how it happens when you can't recall which went first or whatnot

Naa but my new leathers took the brunt of it. Ill be up and running for the gap though. Little rash on the bike though that wont be fixed by then.

Well gnt im inclined to agree with you. I will never know. What I do know is im done with the dunlops. If I washed the rear then that was my fault but if I washed the front then well thats the tire. Thats the only reason that Id like to know. Tell you though im 90 percent sure I lost the front. Ive had the rear step out with me plenty and even pushed the front plenty to know what that feels like. I was pushing it three times harder earlier and they did real well. As good as the powers from the feedback I was getting. Ill be on scrubs by the time you guys get here though. Im not playing that again. If I run street then im running powers. Of course I never have liked dumblops even though they were doing pretty good.:sillyme:

It was just one of those freek things I guess. Its kinda unnerving to loose it like that when your really not doing anything. I would have expected it to do it earlier really though, man we were carrying a clip. i did a 120 mph clip with the knee on the pavement earlier thats why this 30 mph drop is freeking me out a little.
ah heck ill be over it in a day or two:hehe:

did the steering get real light and straighten out as you went down??? if so it was the front.
if the engine revved as it went and the handle bars turned more, then it was the rear.
normally how it works. but it all happens so damn fast, it's hard to ever really know.
good to hear your ok though.

Sorry man i posted to that but it didnt post for some reason. Yea im fine exept for a sore shoulder. Every thing else is fine. I appricate you asking. That is the softest crash ive had if you can say it that way.

Jester it was real weird, the best way I can explain it was i went to turn into the curve and it was as if it just kept leaning right over onto the pavement as if it had no grip. No the handelbars didnt get light and honestly I didnt even feel the rear step out at all. Like I said it was as if it had no grip and as I leaned into it it just came right out from under me. Very weird ive definately never experienced that. Ive always experienced some grip even when the tires were moving around. Funny thing is like I said I wasnt going fast it just droped out from under me.

stinking weird. thats all I know.

Damn squids......... lol

First off I'm glad you're OK!!!!!

Was there something on the road surface? I would bet it was the front. When I wrecked my 954 I tucked the front and I layed down like I was on a pillow. I would have been just fine if it wasn't for that stinkin' drainage ditch. F'n OUCH!!!!!!!! But you know how that goes. hahahaha

did you check the roadway for sand, dirt, grass clippings, leaves, the oil slick from passing vehicles, etc.. maybe there were other contributing factors you didn't look at

also when my bike was new i was rolling @140ish i heard a thump from the back of the bike. i didn't think much of it, but a about thirty seconds later the back end got loose and I slowed to a stop. when i got to the shoulder the rear tire was flat. what happened was, i picked up a nail in the rear tire, but was going so fast that it slung the nail back out causing the thump. my point is.. if the plug failed the tire wouldn't just go to zero pressure and cause you to loose it. the tire pressure would have slowly decreased and you would have felt it getting loose in the rear. I know i did..

which leaves my educated guess as. the front washed, provided that there are no other factors like shit on the roadway

my second guess would be that you were tired from a long day of riding and fell asleep at the wheel and tipped over in the turn.. :hehe:

jfwy.. seriously. glad to hear your ok. good luck with the repair process.

hell i took so long to type it up someone beat me to the "shit in the roadway" idea

Yes. What was said. GLAD to hear you're no worse for wear. Sorry to hear about the bike. Something that I've noticed is that sometimes after a long hard ride, when I finally slow down and start heading for home, my concentration leaves and I get sloppy. I'm not saying this is what caused your accident, but I've almost had a serious mishap due to this and it also happened at a relatively slow speed.

Did the plug in your tire hold up? It doesn't sound like that was the cause of it. Anyway, glad your OK!

From what I could tell the road was clear exept for the normal small spots of oil which you could see that was where the skid mark started. When I say small I mean quarter size, the same thing you will see every inch of the road everywheere you go. I didnt see any but the roads just did clear up from all the salt they put on them from the last snow. No leaves or anything like that that I could see.
Actually I was kinda staging up for a slow speed knee slide. Its such a sharp curve 30 would do it.
My brother and friends dont believe that I was only going 30ish. they are trying to make out like I was going 70ish because of the 40 or so slide into the curbe which broke the rim. They are thinking I was much faster than that because they dont believe the rim would have broke like that from a 30 mph slide. remember though this bike is salvaged title so its been down before. Well I know I wasnt doing that, granted for that curve 30ish is a good clip, well put it this way take a right hander at a red light at 30 and tell me what you think.

Yea thor us squids just crash all the time:hehe: it takes years of crashing to crap proper though.
Well thanks guys ill check in later
