: Switching to Arai for 2006
I've tried on a few of their helmets and they seem to fit really good around the ears.
This one's all new for 2006.

The only thing I don't like about it is that they have THREE big goofy-azz Arai stickers on it. Peeling them off is not an option becuase they clearcoated over them.
Truck 03-19-2006, 08:58 AM thats an awsome helmet prolly one of the best. Good choice turbo... the ONLY thing i dont like about them is that there really loud. You kinda have to wear ear protection on a race bike like your own to use this helmet.
Hey on another note kylbie954 is at barber right now. Are yo there? He says there is a duck there that looks just like yours. Said he was gonna go get some. I said well if its a skinny black guy its probably him:rofl: . He was gonna call me back and let me know if it was you.
He said the bike looked the same though, 8 ball and all.

Naaa, it's not me. I'm in NYC and I didn't get my bike back yet. lol
Still, tell him to beware of the 8 ball. hahahahhaha. We are like the Yakuza!!!!!
Tell him to snap a pic of the bike and post it here. Then I'll probably know who it is.
Oh and yes, I will be planning to wear ear plugs next season so noise is a non-issue.
Thanks
Truck 03-19-2006, 09:13 AM Yea im pretty sure my next lid purchase will either be a Arai or a suommy. Not sure yet but it will be one of them. I have a shoei right now and like it but not good enough to buy another one.
Yea ill be asking him about the duck encounter cause he was hip on jumping on it. ha ha ha well see how that goes im sure he will post it up. :hehe:

Cool. I want to hear about it too. None of the section8 staff is riding this weekend, so it's probably a customer.
Tell him to post up as soon as he gets home.. lol
I've ridden on nothing but Shoei's but I'm not sure if it fits my head that great. The Arai and Suomy just seem to be more comfortable to me.
Truck 03-19-2006, 09:27 AM Yea its a hard sell cause i like the fabric in the suommy better than any other lid but i like how the arai has a locking sheild now. also the arai is just an awsome lid period.
Is that the paint scheem your looking to get?
Courtjester 03-19-2006, 09:28 AM i got an icon mainframe at the the end of the season last year.
i've not riden with it too much but i really like it so far.

Yes, I'm considering this exact helmet. It's a toss up between this helmet and the new Suomy Hodgson.
Here's the Hodgson. Note the yellow outline on the stars. It matches the yellow outline on my bodywork:

The Hodgson matches my BIKE perfectly, while the Arai matches my LEATHERS perfectly. It's a tough call.

I'm still contemplating custom leathers but if I don't go custom, it looks like I'll be rocking these fieldsheers. Can't argue with $400 for a 1 piece.
Also considering the Alpine* Vector.

vt954 03-19-2006, 09:41 PM Arai's are great. I have a RX7-RR. It is very loud, but it fits great and the quality is really good. You'll love the Arai. It will take a little bit to get used to changing the visor, but once you get it you'll be fine.
By-Tor 03-19-2006, 10:42 PM I love my Arai RX7. Best lid I've owned. I think you'll be very happy with it Turbo. The locking visor is a nice feature too. You can lock it in the closed position or even in the cracked open position to get rid of any fogging or just to get some fresh air. Just be sure to get it custom fitted and you'll be fine.
Kylbie954RR 03-19-2006, 11:20 PM turbo the bike looked just like the one pictured but with the white plates on it. i didnt get a pic but there were lots ducks out there... lots got shot down by the 954 tho... but i guess you could say i was sandbagging in that group

Yeah, but the sides of the bike had to be Black because I'm the only one running Silver. (To my knowledge anyways)
Well guys,
I think I may go with the Suomy Hodgson afterall. It matches the bike damn near perfect. But I am still undecided on a suit. There are a lot of nice suits out.
FieldSheer Revo $400

Alpinestars Vector I can get for under $700

Alpinestars Stage I can get for around $500 I think

My wife voted for the Fieldsheer so I'm leaning towards that.
Kylbie954RR 03-26-2006, 08:43 PM i like the A* stage I but im partial to what the women like too
ukdave28 03-26-2006, 08:52 PM Turbo.... are you out of your $#@% MIND bro..... your goingto ride a kick ass rad looking duck wearing a sweet ass suomy (I own 2 and would never ride in anyting else) and then your going to screw it all up by wearing some CRAP ASS junksheer leathers.... Yeah, I hear ya. That's why this decision is so tough. I can get the Moto GP leathers for a good deal too but the colors are just fugged up.
The Moto GP titanium suit is really nice though. I might get this.

I just think that the Alpinestars are a little over priced. I mean, the Fieldsheer suit is not a bad suit by any means. The quality is equivelent to a $700-$800 Alpinestars. It's the same deal with AGV suits. Excellent quality but economically priced.
Believe me, I'm all about bling sometimes, but I don't like to get taken for a ride either. I actually like the Fieldsheer better than the Alpinestars. But I'm still undecided. I guess I will make up my mind over the next couple of days.
These are the specs for the Fieldsheers. Go and see what this will cost for an equivalent suit made by Alpine.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. You really have to lay the 2 suits next to each other and you'll see the difference Turbo. Don't just read what their advertising says. There is a big difference in the build quality and armor. You can't justify spending $1800 on ceramic rotors while cheaping out on personal protection equipment. Skin grafts will end up costing more than your bike. Do the right thing and get a GOOD set of leathers and a nice new back brace while you're at it.
I have crash tested my Alpine*'s at 80 mph and I still use them. You saw how damage free they are. I've seen my boys AGV's after a 40mph get off and they are toast. They are throw away leathers. Get something that will last a good while.

Point well taken. I'm going to call my friend today to see about the Alpines.
MetalScorpio 03-27-2006, 07:32 AM Get some real leathers and stop the bull$hit bigdog...Alpine all day ;)
