That dont mean much out on the hyway, you can only run so fast without getting killed. There isnt anything slow about the 954, bring whatever you want here in the twisties and well see

I hate to admit more than anyone but a 954 in comparison to a gix 1000 is slow. We've talked about it a hundred times, a 954 is choice commuter/sport bike but a gix 1000 came in with serious performance intentions and beat out everything for 3 yrs. straight. Sure, I put it on the Suzukis in the twisties too. The only advantage I have with that is 18 yrs street riding experience. I put it on 'em real, real bad when I ride the Suzuki though. So I know that an equal rider will pull the paint off the 954. And in todays world of hypercycles, being down 10-15hp is slow.

True dat about the Gixxer,

but it's still all about the torque baby!!!! I'm down 30hp, but I pull on everyone, (and I do mean everyone) up till about 140mph. :D

Well, I can tell you first hand the "Black" 1000RR that I have (put about 200 miles on her today) pulled me up to 178(indicated) and then a wicked shut out..went up with my foot and still one gear left..however..I ran out of road..so Ill think its safe to say the gixxer and the 1000RR are evil beasts..and I love it...love it love it!!! damn!! :D (long story short 178 in 5th) hard to count when gears when your eyeballs are flat!!

I guess you're right. A 999 in Texas would be at a severe disadvantage. I'd just go back to a Busa.

As soon as my 999 is ready, I'm supposed to race some dude at Crossbay on his new CBR1000RR. I told him that he better had gotten his full system by the time I'm back on the road. :D I should have mine. I'll be pushing at least 130hp and 75ft lbs of torque. So I won't be giving up much on the straights. Those 1000RRs are only pulling 145hp. Whoever gets the jump is gonna win, and since I reach my powerband quicker, that pretty much sums it up.

Actually, my 999 is almost ready, I'm buying the paint this week, for the bodywork, and then I have to buy a front cowl, and get the front end sorted.

Here where the twisties are more than the straights torque does win over horse power. Flat out I dont have any problem with out running a RC-51 but in the turns I have to keep the tack straight up to run with them.

Take youre bib off pip, stop talking smack before I bend you over my knee and give you a spankin :D
