Has anyone installed the type two vortex frame sliders on a 04-05 1000rr. I was thinking about ordering them but I havent seen them on a bike yet. I am also concerned about cutting the fairing. If anyone has done this please let me know how it turned out. Maybe some pics if you have them.
Thanks

I installed them quite easily on my '06. Completed both sides in less than 15 min. I used a small drill bit as a pilot hole (you should be able to get close just by estimating and then I get the drill bit to center up on the hollow engine mount bolt) Once you have the drill bit centered in the bolt I then followed up with a whole saw the same size as the slider. The trick here is to only get the whole started, dont cut all the way through. Finish it off by reversing the drill, it will still cut the plastic yet wont grab the edges and crack the plastic. You dont even have to take the fairings off. Quick and easy. I heard too many horror stories about non-cut sliders so I figured I would go ahead and cut mine and now I am glad I did, the installation looks sweet and I have the best impact protection.
One thing I dont like about the Vortex is that one side sits out further than the other? Oh well... I am still happy.

Well, I went with the vortex. took speedys advice. The modification to the fairing was a complete success. I am absolutely thrilled with the way they turned out. Thanks for the help.
