I think that they are definately some of the best dogs around. She is the sweetest dog I've ever had. Pitbulls just have a really bad rap due to irresponsible and ignorant people. The thing that really pisses me off though is that most apartment complexes won't let you have a Pitbull even if she is an extremely well behaved, well mannered, well trained dog that is great with other dogs and kids.

She has only growled at one person her entire life, but this person was a really sketchy kid that used to be friends with my roomate but he started doing way too many drugs and went off the deep end. One night after I hadn't seen this kid in years he randomly showed up and my house (most likely looking for something to steal) and she just stood there solid as a rock, growling at him. I told her "its okay Betty" but in my mind I was thinking "goooood girl!"

Oh hell yeah. Dogs pick up on things. They know immediately when something is a threat to their family. You're right. Pits have a bad rap because of the way PEOPLE treat them. They are wonderful dogs. Incredibly strong. Look at her! five feet in the air sideways!!!

A 70lb Pit is an incredibly strong dog. My last dog was 120lb black lab. He was a hunting fool and I had him in great condition. He was a ROCK and a real feisty dog... One day he got into it with a 60lb Pit and he was lucky. Somewhat held his own. Lost a big junk of his tail--took a junk out of the Pit. But OMG. Pit's are so incredibly strong and relentless. It was lucky the fight got broke up or I'd lost my dog. I'm sure a much larger dog could win against some Pits but if it wasn't over really quick, the Pit would win out. They are an amazing bread. A lot of times, due to there breading, they will be gentle as anything with people, but if another dog comes into their territory, watch out. The other thing they are bread for is to hunt and kill Javolenas or razorbacks.

Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its size of the fight in the dog. Pitbulls are the most persistant, unwavering dogs I've ever seen.

I have to physically make her let go of the chew toy on the spring pole or she'd probably hang there until she collapsed from dehydration

very true......and once they get ahold of anything they want to get ahold of.....you can hang it up. they are locked in....almost literally
