That's kind of scary. I'm glad I love my Shoei!

"But HJC Product Development Coordinator Steve Blakeney told Roadracingworld.com that the “safety” of the CS and CL models for competition use is not in question. Blakeney said that the Massachusetts distributor was probably referring to the “features” of these lower-priced model helmets that don’t have as many “racing friendly” options as some of the other models.

The CL passes the SNELL and DOT, the CS passed the DOT only,” Blakeney said. “What testing we can do beyond that? There’s no guidelines for it.” :urfunny: :urfunny: :urfunny:

So as long as we past the minimum tests, why make the helmet any better than that ? :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

I just wish newb's would understand what piles of shit KBC, HJC etc... are. I paid to get my brother into a Shoei. The RF1000 is cheap and a good helmet. (I wear the X-11 cause I'm a big baller though)

the helmet's shell has absolutely nothing to do with the blunt impact resistance of the helmet. it is there to protect the foam from the elements, resist punctures, and resist abrasion.

while reading this article i smelled bullshit.

Was it a slide on the helmet or a smack ? I almost bought an HJC just because it rated as high as the others at the time and fit really nice.

I went to a track day recently and took the Penguin beginner roadracing school, the one point they pounded us with is that fit is everything, and you should have a new lid every 2 years if you ride alot. What made you move to the Shoei?

I bought the Suomy and paid too much, but for me its the one that fits my weird shaped head...

I think after all the reading and research I would buy an aria next time, Ok Bytor, go ahead and gloat :urfunny:

i bought my Suomy on sale $300, it was the last one left of the line, good thing it was my size, but I wont go less than Shoei, arai or suomy. I dont trust the cheaper ones, despite the test that said the $60 pep boys helmets faired best in tests.

I also have a wierd shaped head requiring the Suomy brand :D

I bought my wife a Shoei. She got run over and drug by a pick up truck. The Shoei saved her life. No doubt in my mind. I went out and got one. Had an HJC before. The Shoei is lighter, fits better, more comfortable and has better circulation. I believe in my Shoei. And I wear it ALL the time!

I've wacked an Arai Haga & KRJR RX7, a Shoei Doohan, Rainey & a Beatty rep on the tarmac - all from supra speeds and/or high elevations (read: highside). Each and devery time I've severely damaged the helmet. Not even so much as a headache happened to me. I'd NEVER purchase anything else (perhaps Suomy or OGK). Don't F*%# around with your brain.

I currently have a Shoei DuHamel rep & an Arai Hayden rep. My wife wears an Arai Edwards rep.

Buy the very best helmt you can - even if it is in a solid colour; if you want something fancy, have it custom paintd later when your finances allow.

Cheers
