Is there a big bore or stroker kit that sxists for this engine?Maybe a kit with new jugs pistons rings rods the works whatever it takes!!!!!!Just askin cause they have kits for everything else why not the 9er!!!!Ya know thats bullshit if they don't !!!...:mad:

I don't think you can bore the 954 because it's the same as the 929 and Honda has already maxed it out. It'd probably be more worth your money to wait another year and get the V5 that Honda is going to make available to the public. (yeah, right.......)

How much improvement do you think a ignition advance would make?I love the bike but now there are so many new ones that can just spit it out like nothing!!!!And I don't want to get a new one just improve mine thats all but no mods seem like they would make that much of a difference ! If they do please explain and let me know the benefits of each one so I know what to go with!THANX

Depends on how you like to ride. I like to ride the mnt. twisties. The best mods I made were suspension mods by far. I've also got Brembo master cylinder, gaffer lines and pads, 520 chain, and damper. I can ride so much faster.
Engine mods I've made are full exhaust, PCIII, flapper. I think I gained roughly 15hp.

I'm not sure about this, but I don't think that you need ignition advance unless you're planning on modding your cams. Others will know more about this than me.

There's a number of bikes around here that can pull me in a straight line. I can kick most of there asses in the twisties. The 54 is a fine handling machine--especially after some susp. mods.

You can do a ton to the 954... It just depends how much you want to spend.

I love my 954, I think it would take most 05 and 06 1000s... But I dropped a grip.

if you can get a hold of a member named BillAce he'd be able to help you out with ignition advance statistics with different fuel grades and different maps and all of what older was talking about too

he wrung out his 954 all he could for racing it at the track and without spending a fortune for the final results.


from what I can remember with the full akra, pciii, custom map, bmc?,ignition advance with high octane fuel,and generic ram air system? Bill was able to get above the max average of 15hp gain on the rear that's normally seen on the 954 but not by much


then I think he put in some either HRC cmas or some erion cams and had some head work done and it went well above the extra 15 he got. not sure how much but I remember him saying after it was all done the bike was unfriggen real

It is interesting all the upgrades you can do to the 954, but the question you should be asking yourself is, " Am I riding this machine to its absolute potential?, am I capable of riding this bike to its potential?" I can honestly say that NO, I am not capable of riding my nearly stock 954 to its potential, but with some suspension upgrades & more track time, I may get closer. I always school less experienced riders that are on tricked out R1s, Gixxers, & many other bikes that are "faster" than my 954. Its all up to the pilot.

I didn't like the pilot sports too much I had on my 954, turned in too slow and the back didn't work the way I like. I liked the bt's on that bike

Well gnt you can always go after another 954, there cheaper than a 1k. Ill have to say it and be honest ive rode with all the new big bikes and nobody exept for the select few run off and leave me and I wouldnt say that they run off either. I just dont have a death wish. I just dont see the need in a bigger bike. this past weekend i was a little ham fisted with her and spun up the rear a little too hard and almost hgih sided coming out of an apex. I was riding with a new gix1k, zx-10, R-1 and nun of them stayed with me in the twisties. In the straights i had such a lead on them that they still didnt catch me.
Brad can tell you that there are some boys here that will run off and leave me but theres not many that ive met yet.
But i will say i wouldnt mind to have a new 1k that for sure. I wouldnt kick it out of the garage:urfunny: :thumbsup:
