Has anyone ever lost there temporary plate? I was out riding two nights ago and my friend said he saw my temp plate blow off the hinges of my bike. Now I don't have a plate! Has this happened to anyone. Typically how long does it take to receive the plates from the DMV? I bought my bike in May and I still have not received that damn plates.

I had my temp tag blow off, and shortly after I put on my new exhaust and was going to work and accelerated hard on the on ramp until I saw a cop that had already pulled someone else over on the access road. He saw me and wagged his finger at me, and I figured that would be it, so I stayed right at the speed limit until a mile down the road when he pulled up next to me and pulled me over. I asked him why he pulled me over b/c I wasn't speeding and he responded "b/c you don't have a tag............by the way your exhaust sounds great."
where was i going w/ this...........oh yeah, $85 ticket.
Go down to the DMV and get them to give you a tag. Its not worth it to give cops any reason to pull you over.

you should be ok if you keep all your paperwork with you showing the date of purchase and insurance. it might be a hassle if you don't have them on there, but you should be ok if you explain the situation and show him the paperwork.

I figured that there was a problem when I had not received them. Riding without a plate is scary, but what sucks is the bitches that work at the DMV, always giving me a hassle with this kind of crap. Oh well. Anyway, I am going to head over there tomorrow and get this straightened out. Thanks for the responses!

For some reason it does take awhile to get plates, took mine 2 months to come in. Then what's worse is when you transfer plate to a different bike and the dealership lets you down. Anybody go ahead and ask gntbldr about memorial day experience. Supposedly expired plates my ass...
