Does anyone have experience using bike to bike communication? I keep hearing that AutoCom is the best but there are so many options out there it gets confusing.

I don't really need or want to listen to music or radar detector. A bluetooth phone connection would be cool, but not very important. Really all I want is to be able to use a radio to talk to my riding buddies on their bikes. Push to talk is fine. Mostly to be able to say "turn left up there" or "I gotta piss" or "I need gas".

I have seen a company Fire Fox (?) that makes a throat mic and headphone combo (Extreme mic)that plugs directly into a FRS radio. Looks like it might work decent and be reasonably cheap.

Any ideas?

There are a few companies out there that make radio's for bikes, how effective they are I don't know. I am sure that the really nice ones are going to be expensive. I guess you just have to look around and see. Sorry I don't have more info.

Me and my buddies have "chatterbox GRMSX " work great, and when I'm riding alone I plug my i-pod and listen to some tunes. I can't imagine riding with out it. worth every penny!

FastFreddieRR - thanks for the tip on the GRMSX. It's good to hear a positive review before buying something. I'll look into that one. Do you get good range, or do you have to stay within sight?

Ya, you get pretty good range, they claim 5 miles, maybe if your in flatlands, but in the mountians it's less, probably more like 2-3 miles, i love it, lists for like 269.00, got a brand new one off e-bay for 180.00.
and it voice activated, nice! My buddy has a radar detector connected to also, so when he talks and it beeping I can hear it.
