I am just curious as to everyones oppinion on the question as which bike is the best curve carver out there.
This could be a lengthy oppinion but ive seen a lot of bikes at the gap and places that are just as good as the gap.
My oppinion is probably a supermoto. Ive witnessed the guys on the supermotos carry unbelievable speed in places that the superbikes just cant. Yea in the straights its over but in the twisties its on. In the hands of someone that can trully ride then just keeping the tailights in sight is more than just a chore.
I will say that on the 54 I havent had really anybody runn off and leave me but i have followed som supermoto's that were tearing it up and man what i was doing to keep up well they looked like they were just carrying a good pace.

Would LOVE to give a moto a try, just think it would be a blast! But never have so my pick would be the 600RR because that thing just feels so small and light (after getting off the 1k) :)

Truck, in the tight stuff like the gap, there really isn't any comparison. You have to try a motard. Especially a real one = motocross based. Not any of these porkers like the Hyper Motard Ducati thing. The wieght difference is huge. My 525 KTM is spec'd at about 250 lbs vs 370 lbs for the 954. So really 280 vs 420? (only 1 qt of oil, 1 qt of coolant and 2 gallons fuel on the KTM) 50 hp vs 150. The weight rules in the corners. Plus the front rotor is a 310mm full floater with a 4 piston caliper. That fucker stops fast. The confidence is amazing. And up to 80mph it'll keep up decent.
I'm toying with the idea of a gap trip / mini vacation to visit some friends this winter. I'll keep you posted. If I come, I'll bring the KTM too and let you tear it up.

i was reading in a euro magazine where they tested 100 bikes and the buell 900 or 1200 (one of the two) was listed as the number one bike made in the turns.
i thought this was a real shock number on because buells don't finish on top on anything and it was a magazine printed in europe and they picked an american made bike. but they said it handled the best and could carry the most speed. they did their best times on it.
i've really only had the chance to push a few bikes into the turns hard and the r1 is top of the list for me. but that's only because that's where my comfort is. i know there's a lot out there that will eat the r1 for lunch.

well the real fast guys at the gap run on 600s so I know they do more than the liter bikes in the curves. Ive rode and older buell and can tell you its like riding a hogg of a dirt bike. Low center of gravity and heavy to boot i can tell you it will carve very well.
the really fast guys at the gap run on supermoto's and i havent heard anybody say that a sportbike couldnt keep up but i am hearing they carry so much more corner speed than any of the rest.
Here is a preacher that runs the gap on one

i met that dude down there on our gap trip. had a story where a cop pulled him over and was cursing him and he told him he was a preacher and told him to settle down. the cop let him go without a ticket and the sheriff called and apologized. super great guy.
as for the supermoto's i have no clue. never even sat on one.

I'll try and keep March in mind. I was kind of thinking Feb just to break up the winter a little. It's almost over in March!

But Jester, if I do make it down, you can take the KTM out too. That goes for everyone.
