So I noticed yesterday that I picked up a small nail in my tire. I was afraid to pull it out b/c I was pretty far from home. It looks like a pretty small nail and I don't know if it went all the way through. My tire still has a lot of tread left and I really don't want to scrap it.

What are my options?

What kind of riding do you plan on doing? I've put a plug in my rear tire before and it held up OK, (the kind that you plug from the inside) but it was fall/spring riding and I was very careful about not going fast or pushing it in the twisties. There's enough that can go wrong when riding hard. No point in adding something else. Plus, it was always on my mind and bothered me till I replaced it.

Back in the day i plugged a BT10 with a regular tire plug and then run the crap out of it. Of course i had three rear tires in a row get nails in them and i was just plain tired of buying tires. I wouldnt reccomend that thoguh. Like older said the plug that is installed from the inside and looks like a mushroom works great and id even feel good about a spirited ride on those.

i had a finishing nail go into mine a few weeks back. it entered at a VERY shallow angle...and i know it didn't puncture. pulled it out and checked--no leaks. i'm going to keep running it, but no high speed shit for me anymore. i'm a couple thou away from changing it out anyway, and it's winter...no high speed/high angle riding anyway.

Me personally, I would just smoke the tire and catch it on video. Then, go buy a new one. I'd rather pay like 180 bucks then a big hospital bill. I know it's tough at times with money and yes, buying tires is a pain in the ass. With the plug, you have limited performance. Not to mention, what if the plug fails?

Then again, if the nail isn't bad, plug it and ride the fuck out of it. Just be careful and remember everyday you have a plug in your rear tire and you can't push it as much.

Once again, smoke the tire and ctach it on video. Then post it on 1000rr.com and give us something to cheer about.
