: Update on the R1
Courtjester 01-02-2007, 10:54 AM Okay. So as a few of you guys know, a guy in Princeton, Indiana (tom lagrange) agreed to sponsor me for next race season. Said if I brought the R1 in he would port the heads and go some other stuff. All I had to do was pay for the parts.
I dropped the bike off in Augest and it should have been done by mid September. Well it wasn’t done. They put it back together and started it up and busted one of the buckets.
October came and went and it still wasn’t done. November went by, still no luck. December went by and still nothing.
I called his shop today to see how it was going. He said he was ready for me to come get it. I said “cool. So it’s up and running” he said “no, I’m done working on it. You can come get it and get it out of here”
So now I’ve got a jacked up R1 that ran when I took it into him that is in pieces now.
Any input on how to handle it would be great. I was thinking a ski mask and a ball bat. But thought that might be too obvious. Then I was thinking maybe a few gallons of gas pored over him and a match. But then I thought I might start with having it fixed and taking him to small claims court for the cost of the repairs.
Any thoughts??? I really like the gas idea right now though. That’s really got me feeling all warm and fuzzy.
gntbldr 01-02-2007, 11:19 AM so is the bike in a pile of parts now?
Courtjester 01-02-2007, 11:38 AM no idea. ted's picking it up for me tomrrow.
god, i am livid. gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrr
C420sailor 01-02-2007, 02:03 PM go talk to a lawyer first. if he thinks that a judge will hold him responsible, bring the bike to a good shop and have it put back together. don't be afraid to put some better parts in there while you're at it. then take him to court and stick him with the bill.
if the lawyer thinks you're screwed, beat the guy's ass.

damn straight!!!
whatever you do, don't let him get away with it!!!
1WHEELMAX 01-02-2007, 05:40 PM mike man I was afraid this would happen, thats why I asked you about it the other day.
what a dick, I would talk to a lawyer for sure but if that didn't help I would keep him scared of me for years and maybe even catch him sometime by himself and smack him around a bit.
I've been pissed at him since the track day anyway so screw him.
Courtjester 01-02-2007, 07:25 PM well he called while nicholas was in wrestling prac. and left a voice mail. he said that he would go ahead and put it back together and get it running. said he had 2 parts to order and that he would get it running again.
i assume he talked to his attorney (who happens to be his son) and he told him he was up shit creek. best i can figure anyway. so i'll let him fix it and as long as it runs as it should, i'll carry his stickers and honor my end of the deal. we'll see how it turns out.
1WHEELMAX 01-04-2007, 05:13 PM well at least someone got him to do the right thing.
Courtjester 01-04-2007, 05:25 PM i'm still not holding my breath. just waiting to see how it turns out
gonecrazy 01-04-2007, 05:32 PM do you have a signed sponsorship contract with him? Is he still juicing it up or is he putting it back stock? make sure he just dont rig it up to get it gone.
C420sailor 01-04-2007, 05:57 PM if it's going stock DO NOT put his stickers on your bike. you don't want someone to see the stickers and get in the same shit you got in. he took your bike apart and re-assembled it for no reason.
if i were you, i'd tell him that unless he wants to get sued, you want to supervise the re-assembly. that way you can be sure he's not half-assing the job or reusing parts like head gaskets and shit. or just as bad, not cleaning/decking the head/block.
roll up with a cooler of food and beers and a beach chair. and snap digital pics as he reassembles. that way, if he fucks something up, it'll be his ass.

Courtjester 01-04-2007, 06:25 PM it'll be right. i'm picking it up with a witness. video camera and dig. camera. i'll make sure it's what he said it would be to begin with. even if it's stock i'll be happy to just get it back
hardcharger 01-04-2007, 09:13 PM damn I just read this post that sucks man, sorry to hear about all the troubles sounds like something that would happen to me ( I have some pretty bad luck)
godzuki 01-09-2007, 07:52 PM good lord man i would be livin to. i had a similar incident happen to me on my personal bike. so i did what i could and we came to a agreement, but ive bad mouthed that jack hole every since and i know many have not visited his shop since unless they had to have something.
if you need some help getting even if this goes south let me know i may be up for some covert opertaions, hehehe.
na hehe id would get a lawyer and dont go cheap either get the best lawyer you can afford.
vt954 01-09-2007, 08:05 PM That sucks Jester. Unless it is done the way you agreed - ported and such - I wouldn't run his stickers. If it is just stock, and he didn't upgrade like he is supposed to then I wouldn't even pay for parts. Good luck with it. If you think you might go the lawyer route, make sure you keep yourself clean and don't do anything stupid.
Truck 01-10-2007, 07:55 AM Not to keep repeating what everone else said about the lawyer cause i fully agree but it probably would be worth it to go ahead and hire an lawyer to send him a letter of intent if he doesnt fulfill his end of the bargan. This will in fact show him you MEAN BUISNESS!!! He most likely will make sure its done right. Afterall you dont want to get it back and have it fly appart just after getting it back and him say you were doing something to cause that. IF you get the letter then that gives you a leg to stand on if it were to go to court. It basically is evidence that you and he were having the dispute to start with and will give you leverage at a later time.
Just my 2 cents buddy but comming from a guy that has been sewed ill tell you dont asume anything. COVER YOUR AZZ:thumbsup:
I like the ball bat too by the way:lol4:
Courtjester 01-10-2007, 11:09 AM that's a good idea.
thanks truck
