It was really rough getting the bike to start. The chain is all rusty, should I clean it or replace it.

Just cleaning it good with kerosene or diesel fuel should do the truck. Those two will clean just about anything, helps remove rust, and have lubricating qualities. Then just shoot it with some type of chain lube. You can pick up some good lube at your local bike shop for just a couple of bucks.

I started mine up on Sunday, let it run, and there is now coolant leaking out. I am not sure where it is coming from exactly, but i have started the bike every 2 - 3 weeks all winter. Anyone else have a coolant leak issue?

i have 4 bikes with dead batteries from not being started. but they seem to be holding fluids thus far. subject to change i'm sure.

3 bikes all running well, knocks on wood. I did walk out and find a flat rear tire on my 54 Sunday morning. Glad it didnt go down when I was riding it. Should recive my new Pilot Power 2CT's today, stoked! My bike should handle alot better. The tires were pretty much spent when I bought it.

Should I remove the chain to clean it.

nah. just soak a rag real good and spin the rear wheel squeezing the chain with the dripping wet rag. keep doing it till it shines. if you don't have a rear stand then just rub the chain real good, and move the bike to expose the rest of the chain.
if you do have a rear stand ***DO NOT*** put it in gear and hold the rag on there while the tire spins. the rag will likely snag at some point and if it pulls the rag into the sproket you'll be lucky to walk away with all your fingers. at the very least it'll hurt damn bad and you'll lose some skin and blood. just spin it by hand.

Anyone have any coolant leaks in the past? I havent ever had any issues with it before, but over the weekend I started it and noticed the leak.

I have warranty until July so I figure once the snow stops falling I will take it to my local dealer.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Here are some old pics, my bike currently has the fairings off. Should I put the fairings back on. Its got a naked bike (Streetfighter) look.

Where is the coolant coming from? It could be the overflow bottle, hoses, waterpump, radiator, or block. If you answer that question, your 50% done fixing it, as long as its not the block.

How often to replace the coolant. Should I go with water wetter?

i like engine ice myself. just cause water wetter will freeze and engine ice wont. neither will keep the bike cooler if you are sitting in traffic, but they'll both help it cool down quicker once you get rolling a little but. and neither will leave the diposits in your radiator like ani-freeze will.
my personal fav is the engine ice though. depends on the temps where you live though i guess as to which might be better.

for what? if it's just sitting then no biggie. if youre going to take it for a test run to make sure things are cool, then no, not really. maybe put some tame over the clips and fasteners so they don't fly off. but they run the same with or without fairings

Should I upgrade to Kawasaki ZX6R or to another liter bike?

Should I upgrade to Kawasaki ZX6R or to another liter bike?

Whats the matter? Didn't you get the 954 running well?

I am not sure a zx6r would be an upgrade. You have a 54, sounds like you need just need more time in the saddle.

After making the idle adjustments, its purring like it used to. I tightened down the sprocket as tight as I could get it before it started rotating while in gear. I left the rear washer out that goes to the rear wheel. Where does the washer fit, on the outside of the swingarm or the inside.
