BMC air filters

I just aquired some "free" BMC air filters and had just one question:

Are they meant to just sit in place of the oem ones? I noticed there is a rubber lip or something on the originals that help it lock in and BMC ones don't have anything. Do they just sit there, or am I missing something.?

They make the bike sound awesome too!

Re: BMC air filters

Free huh? Are they the race type? They sit in place of the OEM ones. The BMC filters should come with a foam/rubbery seal ring that goes on the bottom side of the filter. Remove the tape and they stick right on and then set them where the OEM ones were and close up the air box.

Re: BMC air filters

I have KN&N airfilters but I have heard the BMC's are better because they are less restrictive so allow more are flow. The other thing I heard is that KN&N are bad if you live in a dusty or sandy place because they don't trap as much as other brand airfilters. But I don't know how reliable my sources are so just something to look into!

I have the fat mans burden: I am in a perpetual state of hunger!

Re: BMC air filters

I haven't tuned it since I've had them in, but just as a test, the bike seems to accelerate more freely now. More so than before.

And just so you guys don't think I'm a crook, a mate owns a bike shop and he gave me set as a present.

It's all good bro. If you're fortunate enough to get a set free, .
