blown engine on 08 1000rr!

hey guys-thought that I would post something very sad-I just went on a 4day trip into N.E. Oregon with a bunch of guys from the 2fast school up in here in the Seattle area-we were all on cbr's except for a duc and an rc-had a great trip and all of a sudden I am pulling into La Grande OR after an awesome day in Hells Canyon and my 08 cbr 1000 pukes every drop of oil onto the exhaust and consequently the rear tire. Needless to say this caused quite a site-between a loose rear tire and a smoke bomb it was pretty bad. The thing that I can't get over is that it happened with 1000 or so miles on the bike and we had been droning back into town on the highway for around 45 minutes. It seems like if it were going to happen it would have happened charging up Hells Canyon or ripping out of some turn???? Thank god it didn't because that back end got so slick after it was saturated with oil that I could barely get any traction at all-can't imagine what it would do in a corner!
Has anyone had experience with the Honda warranty team? I have it in the shop right now but I am wondering if they might help compensate me for all of the fuel and time that I had to spend to have someone drive out from Seattle and pick the bike up and drive it back.....just seems like you spend 12k on a damn bike it shouldn't break-thats why I traded up from my 98 honda cbr with 30k miles.
thanks for any help on this!

Debated on trading for a 08 but the legacy of past engines are tried and true.

Unfortunate for you this was natural selection of the .001% of manufacturing

defects. I had a Subaru, 20 yrs ago....same story.

I've been reading on other forums of more 08 engine and gearbox failures. Have a look on 1000rr.net.

Man that's a real bummer. I was looking over the warranty info on my 08 and didn't see where you would be comp'd on any expenses. An extended warranty through another company may have covered it but not the factory limited coverage. You'd think something like that might have been spotted at the 600 mile service. Well, hope you're back to riding again soon.

Here in Brazil the new CBR are lowering the oil level about 1 liter for each 1000 km.So it has caused lots of engine problems. The rumor here is that Honda will have to do a recall. In local forums we can read about several owners that are sueing Honda already.
That's why you should never buy them in their first year...

1994 Honda CBR 450 (sold)
1995 Kawasaki green ZX-9R, Muzzy\'s titanium full exhaust (sold)
2004 Yamaha blue YZF-R1,Shogun frame and clutch sliders, rear fender eliminator,Harris tank pad and grips, Goodridge front SS brake lines.
